Frequently asked questions

Here are some frequently asked questions. If you have any others, contact us.

What documents do I need to travel to Kyrgyzstan?

The essential documents to have with you are as follows:

  • A valid passport for the entire duration of your trip and at least 6 months after your return date.
  • An international driving permit (IDP) and a page of Russian translation is required. IDPs without this page are not recognized by local authorities and therefore do not allow you to rent or drive a vehicle on-site.
Do you need a visa to travel to Kyrgyzstan?

No, you don’t need a visa to enter Kyrgyzstan if you stay for less than 30 days.

What does the roadbook contain?

The roadbook includes the general itinerary that takes you through the most iconic sites of the country, as well as anecdotes, tips, and recommendations from our team. It will serve as your guide to explore Kyrgyzstan. While suggested stops are provided, you’ll have the freedom to adjust the route to your preferences and add extra stops.

Can I customize the trip to my liking?

It is not possible to customize the duration and itinerary of the trip. You will be traveling in semi-independence, which means your accommodations are booked for you in advance. During the day, you are free to do whatever you want. Our roadbook and app provide plenty of suggestions for activities and points of interest, and you have the freedom to choose the ones that interest you the most.

Can we participate with children?

Kyrgyzstan Nomads is not an ideal road trip for young children. Due to

  • long mountain journeys,
  • the high altitude (up to 3,000 m)
  • and sometimes harsh conditions.

We recommend a minimum age of 8 years.
Below this age, comfort and safety can no longer be guaranteed.

For a more family-friendly adventure, consider the Namibia Nomads, Jordan Nomads, Morocco Nomads or Scotland Nomads.

Can I do the road trip alone?

Our base prices for road trips are calculated based on two people per car. If you want to go alone, you will have to pay the base price twice. Also, the distances can sometimes be long and tiring. That’s why we do not recommend traveling alone.
