The eagle hunting demonstration in Kyrgyzstan is an iconic experience of Kyrgyz culture. It's a 2,000-year-old ancestral tradition where the royal eagle, trained by falconers, hunts prey in the steppes. During the experience, the eagle is prepared to hunt, performing various maneuvers before returning to its handler's arm, showcasing the deep bond between man and animal. There are direct flights from several cities in Europe or flights with a layover in Istanbul most of the time.
Note: if you book your flights with Turkish Airlines, including a layover in Istanbul, plan for at least two hours between connections, as your first flight may be delayed.
The flights from Kyrgyzstan Nomads arrive on the morning of Day 1.
After collecting your personal belongings, you can easily take a taxi to the center of Bishkek. From there, you can drop off your luggage at the hotel before heading out to explore this vibrant capital.
If you want to extend your stay and book extra nights before or after, here’s an overview of the hotels where you'll be staying.
Your first night, between Day 1 and Day 2, will be at the Akjola Hotel in Bishkek. (Note that the briefing and vehicle pickup on Day 2 will take place in the hotel parking lot at 9:30 AM).
The last night of your trip, between Day 9 and Day 10, will also be at the Akjola Hotel in Bishkek. (Note that the vehicle return on Day 9 will also take place in the hotel parking lot before 7 PM).
The vehicle will be picked up on Day 2. You will receive a briefing at 9:30 AM in the hotel parking lot before heading out to the Kyrgyz steppes.
On Day 9, we will ask you to return the car to the hotel by 7 PM at the latest. You will then have the chance to spend one last evening in Bishkek and enjoy the recommendations provided in our travel guide.

To obtain the Russian translation of your driver’s license (necessary for all drivers in case of a police check).
Two options:
Option 1 – The translation is already included in your international driver’s license
Some international driver’s licenses already have a Russian translation page. If this is the case for you, no additional steps are needed.
Option 2 – Your international license does not contain a Russian translation
In this case, we can arrange for an official translation by a notary in Bishkek before your arrival.
To do this, you will need to send us (via email to info@kyrgyzstannomads.com) in a single pdf:

The translation will be provided to you by our vehicle rental partner when you pick up your car. The cost is €17 per driver, to be paid in cash on site.
Kyrgyzstan is a very mountainous country, with significant differences in altitude. You will spend 2 nights at over 3000m, which can cause migraines and altitude sickness in some people. We do not recommend this trip for individuals with lung issues or for pregnant women.
As for the rest, Kyrgyzstan is a very safe country, especially in terms of food hygiene.
The essential documents you need to have with you are as follows:
An International Driving Permit (IDP) can be obtained from the designated authority in your country of residence (such as your national automobile association or driving licence authority).
When applying, make sure you receive the official multilingual IDP in the standard booklet format. This version usually includes several translations, including Russian.
We recommend checking this point well in advance to avoid any inconvenience during your trip.
No, you don’t need a visa to enter Kyrgyzstan if you stay for less than 30 days.
The roadbook includes the general itinerary that takes you through the most iconic sites of the country, as well as anecdotes, tips, and recommendations from our team. It will serve as your guide to explore Kyrgyzstan. While suggested stops are provided, you’ll have the freedom to adjust the route to your preferences and add extra stops.
The yurts are reserved for couples/groups of three, so you won’t have to share any common room. The restrooms, especially in the yurt camps, may be outside the accommodations and shared.

Yes, all the hotels will provide towels for you. However, we recommend bringing a personal towel for swimming breaks.
Yes, most of our accommodations have Wi-Fi, including hotels and some guesthouses. However, in more remote areas, like Song-Kul or certain yurt camps, the connection may be limited, slow, or even non-existent.
We recommend buying a local SIM card with mobile data as soon as you arrive in Bishkek. Network coverage is generally good throughout the itinerary, except for a few isolated valleys where the signal is naturally weaker.
This way, you can stay connected while fully enjoying the disconnection offered by some of the most beautiful spots in Kyrgyzstan.
Yes, each accommodation has electricity. In the yurt camps, sometimes the outlets for charging phones and other devices are available in the common areas.
Some accommodations are powered by solar energy for electricity.
It’s recommended to have some cash on hand upon your arrival in Kyrgyzstan to avoid wasting time at the airport and to easily cover your initial expenses (SIM card, taxi, meals, small everyday costs).
We suggest bringing around 90 to 120 USD per person, in good condition, which you can exchange for Kyrgyz soms (KGS) upon arrival (either at the airport or in the city). Euros can also be exchanged at currency exchange offices in town, but they are less readily accepted for certain expenses like taxis or SIM cards.
Cash payments are still the norm in Kyrgyzstan. ATMs are mainly found in larger cities, and withdrawal fees may apply depending on your bank. Having cash from the start of your trip will allow you to travel more comfortably, especially in more remote areas.
Kyrgyzstan is a moderate Muslim country, and the Kyrgyz people are known for their hospitality and kindness. Showing respect through appropriate clothing is seen as a sign of consideration. In return, you’ll be welcomed warmly, often over tea or a shared meal. There are no strict dress codes, but it’s advisable to wear respectful attire, especially in villages: avoid clothes that are too short or tight. Go for comfortable, covering outfits that adapt to temperature changes (it can be very hot during the day and cold at night, especially at higher altitudes). A light scarf can also be handy when visiting religious sites.
An accident can happen quickly, which is why we recommend adding a damage waiver to your booking. This coverage will cost you €37 per day and ensures the vehicle while a member of your team is driving. By selecting this coverage, you won’t have to pay a deposit.
If you choose not to take the coverage, you will need to pay a deposit of €1000 before your departure, and a deductible of up to €3000 may be required in case of damage.
Kyrgyzstan Nomads has been specifically designed for groups of 2, 3 or 4 people.
A regular group consists of 2 people, but for each departure date, a single group of 3 can also take part. In that case, we will provide a car and a triple room in each hotel. Groups of 3 people will receive a discount of €300 on the final invoice.
Would you like to travel with 4 people in one car? That’s possible, you’ll then receive a discount of €350 on the final invoice. Please bear in mind, however, that in most accommodations you’ll be allocated two twin rooms instead of one quadruple room.

The Superflex cancellation conditions are available for anyone who books early.
You can reschedule your trip to another period within the same season (depending on availability) or cancel for free before a certain date, which is clearly stated on the registration form.
If the deadline to use the Superflex conditions has passed, the general cancellation conditions apply.
Depending on availability, you can add or remove most options (except cancellation insurance) until 45 days before departure. Generally, we follow a first-come, first-served principle, so early decision-makers are at an advantage.
Within 5 days after your registration, you must pay a deposit of 35% to confirm your trip. After that, you still have until 45 days before departure to modify your options and pay the remaining balance. If you make changes, the deposit is automatically recalculated.
There are various payment options, including Bancontact, Mastercard, iDeal. If you have a Travelbase voucher, you can use it as well.
If your payment fails, it is likely due to an incorrect reference number or exceeding your account limit.
